Three of Perth’s most loved tourist attractions are teaming up for a special school holiday package that will take guests on a historical adventure through the city before crossing over the Swan River for a full afternoon of animal spotting at the Perth Zoo.

WA Tourism Award-winning company Two Feet & a Heartbeat are partnering with The Bell Tower and Perth Zoo for the package that will run on Sundays over the summer holidays.

Starting at the convict-built Perth Town Hall, guests will enjoy a 45-minute urban adventure of the Heritage Precinct including the rejuvenated Treasury building, Titles Office, Saint Georges Cathedral and Council House. Along the way, guides will recount stories of respected pioneers such as Edith Cowan and tell strange tales such as the finger in the vegemite jar.

Two Feet & a Heartbeat earned their third consecutive Gold Medal for “Cultural and Heritage Tourism” at the recent Western Australia Tourism Awards. Co-founder, Ryan Mossny says “This last year has been a whirlwind with the local community and tourists really showing that they love their city. Feedback from participants is that our tours help them to discover new aspects of their amazing city that they didn’t know about, along with the most loved and visited parts. The success of our tours really comes at a time when Perth is growing and maturing as a city, but what we do is make sure that there’s an opportunity for people to rediscover our heritage and the long-loved attractions. We feel our new tour does this very well.”

Following this quirky look at the city’s history, guests will head to the Bell Tower for a ringing demonstration.

Bells will be rung as they have for more than 275 years celebrating such historical events as England’s victory over the Spanish Armada in 1588, The World War II victory at El Alamein in 1942, and the homecoming of Captain James Cook after his voyage of discovery in 1771.

Fittingly the tour then takes to the water to cross to South Perth en route to Perth Zoo for a full afternoon of exploration.

Perth Zoo is a family favourite and one of the most popular attractions in Western Australia. Featuring over 1200 animals from all corners of the globe, including sun bears, rhinoceros and meerkats, along with local favourites like emus, koalas, kangaroos and “Simmo” the huge Saltwater Crocodile.
